The Timișoara Plant Biotechnology Institute is an independent and non-profit scientific organization, established in 1997, headquartered in Timișoara. The institute's team comprises academic staff from USV Timișoara, research personnel, and specialists in the fields of biology, theoretical and applied genetics, and biotechnology. The primary aim of the organization is to promote information and scientific results in the realms of biotechnology, genetic engineering, genetics, and environmental protection, through nationally significant scientific research programs and organizing events such as symposiums, conferences, and specialized postgraduate courses.
Within its operations, the Timișoara Plant Biotechnology Institute encompasses various fields like biotechnology, landscaping, horticulture, and forestry. Research in biotechnology fuses biology with technology to devise innovative solutions in the domains of medicine, food, energy, and the environment. Research in landscaping is directed towards creating harmonious and functional green spaces for human use, while research in horticulture focuses on the advancement and enhancement of crops and horticultural techniques to yield larger and healthier harvests.
